One of the most fundamental responsibilities in frontline homelessness work is recognising when someone may be experiencing abuse, neglect, or harm. This is not always straightforward. Abuse can be subtle, cumulative, and well-hidden. People experiencing it often do not use the word 'abuse'.
This module introduces the ten types of abuse recognised under the Care Act 2014, describes the signs that might indicate something is wrong, and explores why people do not always disclose abuse — and what that means for how practitioners should approach these situations.
This is a Foundation-level module within Subject 4: Safeguarding.
