Homelessness can feel overwhelming. The scale of need, the complexity of the causes, the gaps in provision — these are real, and anyone who works in the sector has bumped up against them. It is easy, in that context, to focus only on what is immediately possible: the next referral, the next support plan, the next bed.
But understanding what works — and why — matters even for practitioners working in direct delivery. It helps us advocate for the people we support, make sense of the services around us, and maintain a sense of purpose in work that can otherwise feel like pushing water uphill.
This module looks at what research and practice tell us about solutions to homelessness: from the evidence-based approaches that have the strongest track records, to the structural changes needed to address homelessness at scale. It is designed to give you a bigger picture — one that sits alongside, and gives meaning to, the individual work you do every day.
This is a Foundation-level module within Subject 1: Understanding Homelessness.
