Most homelessness organisations have an equality and inclusion policy. But having a policy is only the starting point. The real test is whether inclusion is embedded in how the service actually operates — in recruitment, in how assessments are conducted, in how accommodation is arranged, and in how people's diverse needs are met day to day.
This module focuses on moving from policy to practice — what inclusive services actually look like, what gets in the way, and how front-line workers can contribute to building them.
By the end of this module, you will be able to:
- Describe what genuine inclusion looks like across different areas of service delivery
- Identify common gaps between equality policy and practice
- Explain the role of co-production in developing more inclusive services
- Take practical steps to improve inclusion in your own area of work
