Financial hardship and debt are a daily reality for many of the people you work with. Homelessness and financial crisis are tightly linked — and for many people, debt builds up before, during and after a period of rough sleeping or unstable housing.
This module helps you understand the different types of debt people face, the options available when someone is in financial crisis, and how to have helpful, non-judgemental conversations about money.
By the end of this module, you will be able to:
- Describe the main types of debt and their relative urgency
- Explain what happens when someone cannot pay priority debts
- Outline the main debt relief options available in England and Wales
- Support someone to access specialist debt advice
